W^m MacRea Accountants Office Alex.^a Virginia — March 14^th 1797 Sir By the act of Congress passed on the 3^d Inst and agreeably to a list of deranged Officers which I have received from the Secretary of War — you appear to be entitled to Six Months Pay and Subsistence — If you will empower any person in this City to receive the Bal[ance] after deducting the amount due by you to the U. States it will be paid to him and your account will accordingly be closed on the Books of this Office — You will also please to note the place you were stationed at on the 31.
