D^r Dayton who inlisted the man has not yet settled his recruiting acct. I therefore cannot check the Bal^ce due him. but if he has never received it since his joining at West Point he no doubt is entitled to it I am v^c. As the Soldier is returned on a list of Balances in this Office for which a seperate warrant is Sued. it will therefore be necessary for you to authorize some person to receive the same here as it would be contrary to the rules of Office to pay it in any other mode than the one before mentioned.
