Temporary Paymaster March 20th 1797
West Point
Sir
I received your letter of the 14th Inst. and now enclose you an account of retained Bounty due to Samuel Calor, which I received from Col. Rochefontaine— If you conceive the money to be due him you will pay it out of any unappropriated monies in your hands. Lt. Dayton who inlisted the man has not yet settled his recruiting acct. I therefore cannot check the Bal. due him. but if he has never received it since his joining at West Point, he no doubt is entitled to it.
I am &c.
