Sir, War-Office March 8^th 1797 It being proper that the proceeds of money, from the Sale of the return from Indian Trading House should be deposited under circumstances calculated to prevent its being used for any other purpose than those contemplated by law: I have to request that you will, from time to time, and as money arises out of the Sales, receive the same into your keeping, upon my warrant, raise a separate account therefor, under the head, "War Department, Indian factories," and permit no part of it to be withdrawn, but on a Warrant from the Secretary of War, specifying for what purpose it is wanted.
