63 Pittsburg 24.February 1797 Sir Your letter of the 17th instant is come to hand accompanied by the news papers. The Packet for Col. Sargent shall go forward this Evening by Ensign Smith to Fort Washington in whose charge I am sending the Chickasaw Indian’s Goods addressed to the [ Q ?] Master as you formerly [illegible] , but I have some reason to apprehend that some neglect may take place with respect to these goods being sent to Nashville. I therefore wish you would mention that business to the Secretary of War. You will find enclosed Cap. E. D. Turner’s draft on Wm Simmons at sight in my favor for 80 dollars which will you will be pleased to receive and place to my credit. I have this day embraced an opportunity of obtaining by draft 1850 dollars, viz. by draft on you in favor of Geo. Stevenson at 15 days sight for 1000 also in favor of Stephen Leager at 15 days for 530 dollars & one in favor of Wm Christy at 8 days sight for 300 dollars.
