Sir February 27th 1797
I have examined the claims inclosed in your letter of the 1st January last, and do not find any new proof of Ferrill or either of the claimants named therein having served to the end of the war, the evidence now produced is the same that was exhibited to Mr Howell the late accountt previous to his decision; "that the sam was inadmissible", I therefore return you the said claims.

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 12th Feby relative to the claim of Mr Ebenr [undecipherable: Moods? Woods?] for his services as a Dragoon in Coll Lees Corps — to which I have to reply that there is no balance returned or entered as due to him, and that if there was it is now too late to make application for settlement, all claims for services before the 4th of March 1789 being [underline: barred] by acts of limitation.
