Sir Sterling 17 February I have received your letter of the 10^th instant and agreeable to your orders therein as those shall immediately be provided placed on the grave of Red Poles with the inscription you have directed. Agreeable to your orders I shall transmit to you all letters that may come to hand addressed to the late Major General Wayne. Notwithstanding a great deal of labor was expended on the road from Le Bœuf to Presque Isle it is now almost impassible and I am persuaded that the whole strength of the garrisons of Le Bœuf & Presque Isle will not be adequate to repairing it in its present repairs.
