R.P.O.401310.] Philadelphia Feb 16^th 1797 Sir, The bearer hereof M^r Timothy Banger has been employed in the Office of the Register of the Treasury for two years & seven months, and now only leaves it in consequence of an arrangement which will take place from the 1^st of April next. He writes a good plain hand, and has some knowledge of Accounts, having Journalized & posted the Books of the late Government, under my inspection: he is remarkably attentive to business, and would, I believe, be an acquisition in a Store, or Office, in which a person would be required to keep, and methodically arrange articles or papers: I understand that his moral character is very good, I sincerely wish him an employment, as I part with him not without concern, and as your acquaintance is very extensive, you will very much oblige me by pointing out something to him. It has occurred to me that probably some place in the country under your notice either in the Quarter Master or Commissary of Military Stores might give employment to M^r Banger I am well assured he would give satisfaction.
