Pope, & Robert Purdy, who stand charged on the Books of this Office with several sums of Money paid them a long time since, for the expenditure thereof, I have not received any account or Vouche[rs] and being anxious to close all accounts of long standing, I having to request you will as speedily as possible, transmit them agreeable to their Superscriptions. — I am &c. Virginia February 16^th 1797 Sir Your Letter of the 3^d Inst. has enabled me to make out the Pay Roll of your Detachment to 31^st January 1797 amounting to One thousand and fifty six dollars ²²/100, which sum you will receive from Edward Carrington Esq^r. Supervisor of Virginia, on giving him duplicate Receipts for the due application thereof. You will also receive from him the further sum of One hundred & seven dollars ⁴⁵/100 being the amount of your Pay and subsistence for November & December 179[6] for which you will likewise give him duplicate Receipts and disburse the former sums, say 1056⁴²/100 dollars, agreeably to the Inclosed Receipt Roll. — I am &c. Blackburn at Fort Norfolk — 1056²²/100 dollars thereof being for the pay of himself, Lieutenants, John Saunders and James Triplett, and the Men under his Command to 31^st Jan^y 1797. Carolina — February 17^th 1797 Sir I received your Letter of the 1^st inst. enclosing the Receipt Rolls of Serjeant Philip Williams and the Men under his Command at Fort Johnstone, North Carolina, for his and their Pay from 1^st January to the 30^th November 1796, amounting to One hundred & eighty four Dollars ³³/100; which sum will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this Office.
