[373.] John Chester Esq^r Accountants Office Sup^r Connecticut February 16^th 1797 Sir You will receive from the Treasurer of the United States the sum of One hundred twenty eight dollars 7³⁰/100 which you will please to pay to Cap^t Edward Miller, at Middletown, being for the pay of himself, Lieut. Daniel Bissell, and the Recruits under his command for January 1797 and take his duplicate Receipts for the due application thereof. I am &c. W^m Simmons Acct. Cap^t Edward Miller Accountants Office Middletown — Connecticut February 16^th 1797 Sir I received your letter of the 1^st instant, enclosing the Receipt Roll of yourself, Lieut. Bissell, and the Men under your Command for December 1796 and muster & pay rolls for January 1797. — The Receipt Roll has been examined and amounts to one hundred twenty-two dollars [undecipherable]/100, which sum will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this Office. The pay Roll has also been examined and after adding thereto Four dollars the pay of Nathan Randall, which thro' mistake you omitted to insert and deducting therefrom Six Cents, you having charged the pay of Gaius Fields Ser^vt and Asa Smith 3 Cents too much each, amounts to One hundred twenty eight dollars [undecipherable]/100, which sum you will receive from John Chester Esq^r Sup^r Connecticut, on giving him duplicate receipts for the due application thereof.
