I received your letter of the 1st instant, enclosing the Receipt Roll of yourself, Lieut Bissell, and the Men under your Command for December 1796 and muster & pay Rolls for January 1797. — The Receipt Roll has been examined and amounts to one hundred twenty two dollars 30/100 which sum will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this Office. The pay Roll has also been examined and after adding thereto four dollars the pay of Nathan Randall, which thro mistake you omitted to insert and deducting therefrom Six Cents you having charged the pay of Gaius Fields Junr and Asa Smith 3 Cents too much each, amounts to One hundred twenty eight dollars 30/100 which sum you will receive from John Chester Esqr Supr Connecticut, on giving him duplicate receipts for the due application thereof.
