Sir
Herewith you have Duplicate of my Letter to you of the 6th Inst which will be handed you by Lieutenant Wright who will leave Town shortly— Enclosed you have a list of the charges from the Books of this Office, against Captn John Wade, who marched Capt Gibson's Men to your place; exclusive of those charges there are two received from G: Swan Pay Master to the Troops U States, since Captain Wade's departure, for Monies received which he omitted crediting in his Settlement at this Office. I have written to Capt Wade on the subject in the enclosed Letter, which after perusing you will Seal and deliver to him; the Sum Two Hundred ninety Dollars 70. Cents he is immediately to refund to you for which you will give him your duplicate receipts — The necessity of this measure will no doubt appear sufficiently obvious to him when he reflects that his accounts were settled on his Attestation, avoiding the necessary form of a Certificate from the Pay Master — You will please inform me as early as circumstances will admit of the probability of receiving the Money, that if it is refused a proper representation may be made to prevent such outrageous injustice — I am
