Henley's acct for expenses &c] Accountants Office February 6^th 1797 Sir Enclosed you will receive copies of my letters to you of the 23^d & 30^th December last year with the accompaniments to which you are requested in every particular to attend. A Similar account to the last stated at this Office of Mr. Hays as Muster Master has been presented for payment by Mr Jackson in Congress. I shall however give it as my decided opinion that it ought to be settled by you and it will accordingly be suspended for the present here. The determination which may take place on the subject will be communicated to you in due time. This will be handed to you by Lieut. Wright by whom I received your letter of the 5^th Ultimo inclosing abstracts of articles of Provisions, Forrage & supplies Col^o Websinger of Dragoons of which this necessary notice will be taken. Lieut Wright has received the amount of his account of Expences coming from Knoxville to this place & whilst there, he has also received two hundred dollars on advance for which he will account with you on settlement. I ask Pay &c — his subsistence must be accounted for the time his expences are allowed, they settle here commenced on the 6^th Jany and made the 7^th Feby you will also deduct for the time he may charge his expences in returning to your place. I have to request you will be more frequent in your communications relative to the State of the Troops in your Quarter, the progress made in paying them, their situation as relates to their services, how many are now employed &c. This measure is the more necessary from frequent applications made to me of the situation of the Troops there, and other information relating to them of which I am totally unacquainted.
