As I wish to give the Secretary of the Treasury the best Information in my power relative to Mr Pollard previous to any Arrangement, which might lead to his introduction to the Treasury Department; you will very much oblige me by obtaining, from your late Clerk [undecipherable] the Occasion of Mr Pollard's being in England and any other communication in respect to that Gentleman; and it would be well perhaps to receive it in the form of a Letter addressed to yourself, —
