July 1^st 1797 Dear Sir, I received your favour of the 30^th of December I herewith inclose you the dimensions of the Sternpost — I also do myself the pleasure to inform you how we go on with the Frigate altho the Severity of the Season has been great. We have collected all our materialls & have them nearly all in the yard and [undecipherable] our Treenails from New York the greater part of which are very good. We have got in all the 1^st & 2^d Futtocks and nearly all the 3^d the fore and aft Cants are all framed except two [undecipherable] for hoisting. The Kelson is in, And the Ships is ribbaned to the Gunnel which comes very fair. I expect to have her completely timbered by the 20 Inst. I intend to get on the Wales and two Streaks under them (and then put in the lower deck beams which will be done by the middle of March. I have twenty five men now employed & Shall soon have a larger number — My Mastmaker is now at work who will have the mast work compleated, by the Launching of the Ship. In short, I intend to push every part of the business so that the Ship shall be launched agreeably to Contract.
