particulars to attend— a similar account to the last settled at this Office of M^r Hays as Muster Master has been presented for payment— by M^r Jackson in Congress I shall however give it as my decided opinion that it ought to to be settled by you and it will accordingly be suspended for the present here, The determination which may take place on the subject will be communicated to you in due time— This will be handed you by L^t Wright— by whom I received your letter of the 5^th Ultimo inclosing abstracts of Articles of Provisions, Forage &c. supplied Cap^t Webbs Troop of Dragoons of which the necessary notice will be taken— Lieut Wright has received the amount of his account of Expences coming from Knoxville to this place & whilst here, he has also received two Hundred Dollars in advance for which he will account with you on settlement of his Pay &c. his subsistence must be accounted for the time his expences are allowed, those settle here commence on the 6^th January and ended the 9^th Feb^y you will also account for the time he may charge his expences in returning to your place.— I have to request you will be more frequent in your communications relative to the state of the Troops in your Quarter, the progress made in paying them their situation as relates to their services, how many are now employed &c. This measure is the more necessary from the frequent applications made to me of the situation of the Troops there, and other information relating to them of which I am totally unacquainted. I am &c.
