The number of Guns with which the Maritime Posts of the United States Shall salute Salutes, Shall in no instance exceed Fifteen, and in every instance Shall be Gun for Gun. To Admirals, Flag Officers Commodores, and Commanders of Ships and Vessels of [undecipherable] belonging to Foreign Nations, the Salute shall be accorded to their Rank. To an Admiral not exceeding Fifteen Guns To a Vice-Admiral not excee[ding] Thirteen Guns To a Rear-Admiral or Flag Off[icer] not excee[ding] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] To a Commodore not excee[ding] Nine Guns To a Captain commanding a [undecipherable] Ships of War, not excee[ding] Seven Guns These Regulations to be communicated to the Officers requiring a Salute, that he may know the number of Guns given to Officers of his Rank.
