Pittsburg 13^th January 1797 Dear Sir I have received your letter of the 6^th Instant accompanied by the News papers. I am sorry that any difficulty is in the Way of the Money advanced at the request of Maj. Langham being refunded. I have in order to accomodate a Friend of mine given him a Draft on you drawn in favor of James Gallagher for eighty Doll^s at eight days sight dated this day which be pleased to pay. Our Navigation is still shut up &very little appearance of a change of weather. The Indians are to continue till an Opportunity offers of decending to Fort Washington. I am sorry you have not yet been successful in obtaining the Secretary of War's Sanction to my claim for compensation for extra services I hope however you are still persevering in this business.
