Presley Nevill late Pay Mast^r Gen^l Militia Army Accountant's Office Jan^y 11^th 1797 Sir There are now lodged in this Office a large number of Officers Accounts (who served on the Western Expedition) for arrears of Forage & Subsistence, which they say is due to them. — The frequent and almost hourly application for a settlement renders it in the highest degree necessary that the Pay Masters of that Expedition should settle their their Accounts, and return the Balances which remain in their hands — To enable me to call on all Delinquents, it will be necessary first that your Accounts should be finally settled, from which only the charges can be ascertained. The propriety of attending thereto as early as possible will appear obvious to you, taking into consideration the length of time which has elapsed since the Expedition was at an end, and the frequent applications for Payment of Arrears as before mentioned.
