of Volunteer Militia received a wound in his right arm when in the execution of his duty pursuing a predatory party of Indians, and that a few hours after it was found necessary to take off the arm.
Doctor Robert Brownfield also certifieth, that the said Andrew Lewis by the loss of his right arm is rendered [strikethrough: incapable] of labour or earning his living.
Wherefore the said Andrew Lewis, in pursuance of an Act of Congress passed on the twenty third day of March, one thousand, seven hundred and ninety six, entitled "An Act for the relief of certain Officers and Soldiers who have been wounded or disabled, in the actual [service] of the United States," is entitled to receive an annual allowance at the rate of five dollars per month, said provision to commence on the twenty fourth day of [strikethrough: one] thousand seven hundred and ninety three, to which day he received pay.
