Coweta the 8^th Jan^y. 1797. Sir, In september last there were packed up at Philadelphia implements of husbandry for the Creeks, and other things necessary to the Indian department. they were to be forwarded to the [undecipherable] of the agent for the department of War at the intended establishment near fort Fide[undecipherable] with orders for the quartermaster to cause them to be sent to the lower [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable] of the agent. If you have [exa]mined any of the articles, as divided I wish you would send them to me at this place. I expected the [undecipherable] would have been sent round in the vessel with M^r Price and the fall supply of goods. as such a vessel has not yet arrived it is probable some accident has happened during the stormy season and the vessel is lost or miss'd her port. — I inclose you a list of some articles belonging the Indian department in the possession of M^r Price who has as I expect an order from the Sec^rty at War to deliver, If he has not received any such order, I request you notwithstanding to direct him to be set and I in that case will be accountable for them. If you in the course of your researches have found out the mind of making Indians [undecipherable: fulfil?] their public engagements, when there is no law and it belongs to Individuals to take personal satisfaction, and to the family of a person injured to avenge the wrong. and you will communicate that [undecipherable] to me, I hereby bind myself and successors in office to send you six [undecipherable] in full [undecipherable].
