Pittsburgh 5^th January 1797 Sir, I rec^d yours of the 20^th Ultimo — the power of Attorney was executed & forwarded by last post, which I wish safe to hand. — I beg you will attend to the following Circumstances towards recleigning the accounts on the Treasure Books — By the account you sent me by last post I will be Chargeable with 250.270 Dol^rs 99 Cents the amount of my Bills & Money from the Treasury is but 168 23 — Dol^rs 33 Cents, which will leave a Considerable discrepance — previous to the first of July last, Major Craige took his Vouchers in his own name although the money he drew for was Charged to me — It will be necessary if it has not already taken place, that his Vouchers for the disbursement of Cash should be raised to my Credit — this should be done before the report is made on the account — also any other accounts which were paid out of the Money Charged to me, should be Credited, and then the account would Stand right — I beg your attention to this at the Comptrollers office, before the report on the accounts take place. — am, Sir, your Very Hum^t S^t: J^no: Wilkins J^r D^t Master Genera[l] [C^o Edw^d.
