R.P.O.401310.] Pittsburg 21^st October 1796 Sir On the 18 inst in order to accomodate Mr. John Garden of Phil^a I drew on you in his favor for 500 dollars payable Eight days after Sight which be pleased to pay & charge as usual. Doct. Pfeiffer has paid 68 ⁸⁰/100 dollars for transportation of his extra Stores — which sum I have placed to your Credit. Your letter of the 8^th instant was handed me by M^r Peter Barriere to whom I have and shall pay attention — Gen. Wilkinson, is just arrived on his way to Phil^a & Cap. John [undecipherable] is expected this day also on his way to Phil^a having a number of Indian Chiefs in Charge — This party I have to equip & mount on Horse back — the Horses I presume will be returned. Cap^t Shaumburgh sent forward by the Gen^l has been furnished with a Horse, his receipt for which is enclosed being accountable to you for Delivery. David Buchanan's Receipt for 20 dollars is also enclosed that sum to be charged to James Hamilton, Waggoner, and placed to my Credit, it being [undecipherable] to the [undecipherable] of his Waggon, as will appear on the Receipt for his loading. You will also find enclosed a list of a number of Lots in the intended Town of Erie and out Lots adjoining which have been purchased by Alexander Power who has offered them to Doct. George Balfour who has proposed to me and some of my friends to join him in the purchase. I have therefore to request you to call upon M^r Power & offer him any sum not exceeding 10 per cent Commission on the amount of his purchase which according to the list appears to be 599 dollars. his Commissions will therefore amount to 60 dollars nearly — but rather than not purchase you will please to offer him 12½ per cent and in case of his accepting you will please to pay his Commission and obtain a transfer in Col^o Biddle's Office to Geo.
