[#34 circullers Edwar d Miller Rec^d 30 Dec^r 96 Ans^d 1] Middletown Dec^r 25^th 1796 Sir, I have received your letter of the 14^th Instant in which you informed me of the mistake of James Blaksley not signing the receipt Roll for the month of November 1796 as an Artificer, if it is expressed in the Receipt Roll for the month of November there is still a Mistake, and I will thank you to alter it from November to october 1796 as that is the month the Receipt Roll is for. I have inclosed his seperate Receipt. I have Received by the hands of John Chester Esq^r Supervisor for the district of Connecticut the sum of One Hundred & Twenty Dollars [strikethrough: 24/100] in a Bank Bill payable on sight for the payment of my self and Lieut. Samuel Blaksley [?] and men for the Month of November 1796 the Said Bill Baring no day of the month or date of the year, notwithstanding I have exchanged the Bill with M^r William Phumb Mar^t in this Citty and he has sent it forward to New York. I have Receiv^d part of the change the other he withholds untill he hears the Result of the Note — these are the Reasons for not forwarding the Receipt Roll for the month of Nov^r 1796 by this post I wish your instructions in the matter Inclose you a Letter Directed to Major Joseph Shayler and well thank you to forward it to him — I am Sir your Obedient M^r Timmans Esq^r act.
