R.F.O. 401810.] Albany December 31^st - 1796 Sir Having been unwell for Some time past I could not Answer Your favor to me Dated Nov. B^c 29 inst I Do Not Know as I have Understood it right but I have Done My best to Comply fully to Your request, Wishing that you May be Satisfied with it. if I am not Mistaken, & I have forwarded to You the receipt of Pater Banff at the time [undecipherable] he left Albany, I am in hopes it is lodged now in Your Office, there are here enclosed I have not mentioned in my Quarter Master Return, Sir, the two Flags and travelling forge with the two Braces, and the hundred Six Pounds Shot for Capt Banff, as it was rendered immediately after the Flags, in Consequence of which I have received a polite Letter from you on the Subject. I now wish to Observe Now, Sir, that I have no Quarter Master Stores at all at Albany, all what was forwarded was purchased in Different Stores and paid for, as it will appear by Vouchers, and to [undecipherable] you the truth, I Do Not Know after [undecipherable] receiving your Letter that you have referred to, Mentioning the Quarter Master Stores, I hope however that I have Got it right. [undecipherable] Flanning Blom's receipt for the Musket Cartridges Braces is enclosed [undecipherable] Addressed in this Letter to me [undecipherable] among the 10 B[undecipherable] Braces forwarded to him by as order of the hon. [undecipherable] The Secret. [undecipherable] to me Dated Nov. B^c 11^th [undecipherable] that the [undecipherable] and 3 Boxes [undecipherable] that it is probable [undecipherable] them as they are of the Size of the Musket Cartridge Boxes they would be found among them through a Mistake and will be found among the Other Boxes; as to the Cartridges [undecipherable] it is not my forwards account for, as I never offered but [undecipherable] and delivered them to Capt [undecipherable] as he was at Albany with his Detachment by Orders. By the Word of other expenditures of Stores Mentioned in Your Letter to me, Sir I apprehend that you addressed the Money Sent [undecipherable] Me for the expenses of the Detachments of Course You will find the Vouchers for. As Congress is Setting Now, Sir I [undecipherable] My Subject that you will be as Good as [undecipherable] in the Mind of the hon. [undecipherable] Secret at My requesting or Making an Addition to My Salary [undecipherable] any [undecipherable] Sure of What [undecipherable] had the pleasure of informing you on that Subject. I have the honor to [undecipherable] him about it and shall be thankful to You and him Both to [undecipherable] use Your Influences toward Congress to get that Addition for as I have [undecipherable] the [undecipherable] to tell you it will not be long in my power to Support My Self as third in the Store Department. Lastly another favor, I will beg of You for which is to forward me My Salary [for?] the Last three months of this present Year, My voucher for it You will find here enclosed.
