Box 7] Westpoint Dec^r 13^th 1796 Sir, your Letter of the 19^th Ultimo Covering an Invoice of Stationary, has arrived yesterday from New York with the Box alluded to in it. [strikethrough: Captain] Faye has been here from New York after his family, he has mentioned to me the clothing that had been forwarded by you to him — as he did not expect to be accountable to any body but to you for the same he had not brought the Invoice bill with him but when I told him that you wished the accounts of clothing delivered to the Corps to go thro the Quarter M^r of the Corps he promised to me to send it Soon after his return to Governors Island with the receipt of the officer commanding the Detachment. — by the Inspection of the returns forwarded to you of the Clothing that the Detachment had a due Bill for, you will see that some articles are Still to be forwarded to them in order that they may be Completed to the 1^st of April next as was Contemplated. The Inclemency of the Season requires that the men remaining here Should be furnished Soon with their Clothing. Woolen overalls, hoe, Shirts, Socks, hats — Detailed in the returns forwarded are quite exhausted in the Regal Store, and many of our Small proportion of men are unfit for Duty for want of the articles mentioned above — Respectfully I am, Sir Your obed^t Serv^t Fley: Rochefontaine.
