I rect your letter of the 21st Nov. enclosing a Rect of Ens.t Merewether Lewis for Forty Dollars which sum as well as Twenty five Dollars, which he says he rec.d from Peter Odrany Deputy Quarter Master Gen.l at Detroit on the 7th Nov. have been passed to your credit on the Books of this Office on the settlement of his account. Having no account open on the Books of this Office for Peter Odrany, I have passed the money to your Credit as you are concerned in that Department & probably would have it in your Power to credit him with the amount on your Books
