Land purchase orchestrated at Coleraine failed to result in land obtained from Creek Nation, however trading posts and military forts will be established under new treaty. Treaty b/w U.S. and Great Britain and U.S. and Spain were amicably reached and U.S. gained land on its western frontier. Arrangement with Dey of Algiers successful. Discussed importance of agriculture and manufacturing. Also address idea of standing army, regardless of peaceful state of affairs.
