Sir,
I have drawn on you at ten days sight for five hundred Dollars, in favor of Messrs William Davidson & Co to be charged in the expenses for transporting the Stores Ordered from this place to Petersburg. — you will readily discover that about [undecipherable] of Shoes in strong boxes suitable to carry them safe over the mountains
Upward of 600 Havellets well baked, will make upwards of 60 [undecipherable] besides the expenses of lumber &c for the Boxes, Boxes for the Shoe Packing &c.
I have engaged to pay 7 Dols & 50 Cents pr cwt and that should they be blocked up in the mountains by a heavy fall of snow, I will pay for their feed during the time they cannot travel —
At the return of the waggons I will make up a full Acct of the expenses & forward with all the Necessary Vouchers relating thereto which I hope considering the advanced Season will be moderate, and agreeable to you —
