I recd your letter of the 21st Novr enclosing a Rect of Ensn Meriwether Lewis for Forty Dollars which sum as well as Twenty five Dollars, which he says he recd from Peter O'Hara, Deputy Quarter Master Genl at Detroit on the 1st Novr have been passed to your credit on the Books of this Office on the settlement of his account. Having no account open on the Books of this Office for Peter O'Hara, I have passed the Money to your Credit as you are concerned in that Department & probably would have it in your favor to credit him with the amount on your Books.
