My last letter to you was dated 19th Ultimo informing you of the Balance of your account of Pay, Subsistence & Recruiting, to 30th Sept 1796 inclusive, having been remitted to Edward Carrington Esq. Supervisor at Richmond — since which The Sec. of War handed me your letter to him of the 25th and to reply to that part thereof relating to your Pay for Oct.r last: The deduction took place in consequence of Mr Singlett having informed that you had gone to the Northward, and requested your Pay might not be forwarded: — Agreeably to your request I now forward to Edward Carrington Esqt Supt. your Pay for Oct.r & Nov.r 1796 amounting to Fifty two Dollars, which sum you will receive from him on giving the necessary Receipts.

He is now returned to Norfolk, where he will remain. — You may therefore now pay him the amount forwarded to you. — In addition to the former sums I now have to inform you that The Treasurer of The United States will remit you the sum of Fifty two Dollars for his Pay for Oct.r & Nov.r for which sum you are on paying it to Lt Saunders requested to take his receipts & forward them as usual to this Office. you appear to pay the postage on public letters addressed to my Office; this is
