The late detention of the writ of error obliges me to remain here again to Charleston, he has applied to me for an Advance of a Months pay, I did not think myself authorised to request M^r. Freeman for this claim, and I will give him out of my private purse the money for removing his family upon a request to you to repay me out of the next pay Due. I will therefore send it to you immediately after, and I will beg you would Take the Trouble of embarrassing one [undecipherable] dangerous Circumstances not prevent me to Trouble you for. Since the few Detachments are forming, I have had a great Number of applications for bounty Due to Men Enlisted by Cap^t. Thompson, as they will be Dispersed all over the Continent, it will require your [undecipherable] to have them paid, it is really to be pitied that men when time is nearly out, should be kept to this Day out of their bounty, while the law and their private agreement, ought to guarantee them immediately after they are enlisted.
