Fort Norfolk Novemr 26th 96
Sir
Your Letter dated the 10th Instant I have just recd by which I observe that there has been a Detachment Ordered from West Point, for this Place — I shall make it my sole attention to have the Barracks &c in good Order for their reception
We are very much in Want of a Boat, as the one, that has been in use here, has become intirely use=less and not safe to venture in — I have therefore request=ed the Contractor to have one procured, we are also in Want of Clothing — particularly Coats & Shoes. —
I find by a Letter from Mr Simmons to Mr Triplett that he has omitted to forward my Pay for Octr which was enter'd on the Muster Role for that Month, & Transmitted by me. — my being absent at the time when the last Muster went forward was excluded. I will therefore thank you Sir, to have my Pay remitted for Octr & Novemr
I have the Honour to be
