Whereas about fifty or Sixty White Oak Trees more, are wanted to get Beams & Kneel for the Frigate building in Baltimore — M^r Sprigg will agree that, [strikethrough: that] that quantity of Trees shall be got from such parts of the Land called Sparrows point & Howell powell as M^r Sprigg, or his Agent shall point out — on the following Terms to Wit — M. f^ts Sterells (Agents) to pay All the Expence, that has, or may arise, for the hauling down to the Water, All the Timbers that have been got, at West River under the Direction of M^r Kirkwood — or may be got hereafter, at West [strikethrough: River] River for the Use of the Frigate, at the whole Expence of the United States — and in Case the above proposition is agreed to by M.f^ts Steretts — then they are to have the aforesaid Quantity of [underline: 50 — or 60] W. O. Trees, from Sparrows point at six Dollars p^r Tree — (the U.S. States to be at All the Expence of getting & hauling the Trees at Sparrows to the Water, so as to have so that the said M^r Sprigg shall be at no Expence whatever with the said [strikethrough: Trees] Timber — The Trees to be worked [strikethrough: in the land] as the Stump, and All Chips & Wood of every kind that remains [strikethrough: off] after the Frigate Timber is got, to be left at the Place of getting the the said Timber, as the property of the said M^r Sprigg — — And the whole of the [strikethrough: so as to] Timber got from the said 50 — or 60 Trees, to be carried of the Land on which it is got, by or before the first Day of May next —
