Boston Nov: 8^th 1796 Sir I herewith inclose you a copy of the Invoice of the Materials belonging to the U.S. which were delivered to Mr. James Hackett for Building the Frigate for the Mediterranean Service, together with a Statement of the amount of the [undecipherable] so delivered, and a Copy of his receipt for the Same. I also inclose a Copy of the Instructions given to Capt. Geo. Hennel, whom I appointed a Temporary Inspector of the Frigate, by the advice and recommendation of Mr. [undecipherable] until Your pleasure should be [undecipherable], his rate of pay is 26 dollars p Month which is 6 dollars p Month more than I expected to have engaged him for. I hope he will prove himself equal to his Appointment — As there is very little Business here to engage me I shall leave this before the latter end of the present week for N. York. I have requested Mr. [undecipherable] & Capt. [undecipherable] to let me know what Materials they are yet in want of for Constructing the frigate building here.
