Sir
In the absence of the Accountant, I have received your letter of the 7th Inst. — When you were directed to pay Adjutants hovells Account — the situation of yours was not taken into View; although the Payment to Littlefield's Detachment was not regular. I dare say the Business can be so arranged as to admit the amount to your Credit. You will now receive from Nicholas Fish, Esqr Five hundred Dollars, to remain in your hands to pay any Accounts for which you have or may hereafter receive directions from this Office! — This sum, you will be held accountable for, and will give your receipts accordingly to Nicholas Fish for the same.
