I have particularly to request that you will lose no time in appointing this money on its renewal, but proceed immediately to make the payments as fast as it will go — Great complaints are daily making at this Office on account of the arrearage due; many Officers and Soldiers affirming that they received no pay for the whole of the present year, tho they left Head Quarters in August & September; this circumstance will no doubt be communicated to Congress, therefore the sooner the remedy is administred the better. It would be an agreeable circumstance, were more frequent communications from you to arrive here: It is now a long time since I have had any of your accounts or even a line from you, this leaves me utterly in the dark relative to the payments & the items of which I should be frequently informed. upon the receipt of the sum before mentioned from Cap^t Turner give him your receipts to be by him forwarded to this Office for his exoneration.
