Document 1796To save postage, Fleming enclosed to the Secretary of War a letter containing the Quartermaster's store's returns and an additional return for military stores. There are still not included in any return laboratory tools and other things that Captain Price has in his laboratory. Sir,
To save expence of postage, I enclosed last evening to the Secretary of War a letter for you, containing the Quartr Master's stores return & an additional return of military stores. I recollect there are still not included in any return some laboratory tools & some other things that Ltt Price had in his laboratory — a medley, some of them valuable in the hands of a person who knows the use of them, & some of them not fit for service now; as soon as I have time I will overlook them & make you a return of them.
I am, Sir,
