The Balance now due you is Thirty eight Dolls 8⁹/₁₀₀ which sum you will on application receive from M^r Freeman Pay Master on your giving your receipt therefor. As respects the deductions I have made from your account of Horse Hire & expences. I have to answer that your duty as Adjutant requires a Horse for which the Public has provided by allowing you Forage — any duty therefore which may call you on Horse back — you cannot in my opinion be allowed any Horse Hire — and as respects the expences the Rations of an Officer have generally been considered as adequate.
