[marginalia, upper left corner: illegible text] Be it Known that Before me John Lea one of the Justices of the peace for the county and State aforesaid came before me the within Named Joshua Ball named in the within power of attorney and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired the same to be [undecipherable] and Octo^ber 25^th 1796 M^r Lea At the Request of Joshua Ball I do hereby Certify that Joshua Ball, is personally known to me and I know said within Soldier when in actual Service, he said Ball was a Soldier in the United States Services and in the New Jersey Line I am also acquainted with his father who lives in Salem — October 25^th 1796 Jh^o.
