Enclosed you have blank Muster & Pay Rolls: You will therefore transmit a Muster (which you must make oath to before a Magistrate) and pay Roll to this Office every two months, and the money will be remitted to James Head Esqr who will pay you the same.

The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of One hundred & thirty five Dollars, which you will please to pay to Sergt Philip Williams, John Parker & William Johnstone of the Corps of Artillerists & Engineers stationed at Fort Johnstone, being for their pay from 1st Jany to 30th Sept. 1796, and take their Receipts for the same agreeably to the enclosed Receipt Roll; which, as soon as receipted, you will be pleased to transmit to this Office, in order that the amount thereof may be passed to your Credit; I am induced to give you this trouble of paying the men individually, they having no Officer with them & not knowing any other person in your quarter with whom I can intrust this business.
