I rec.d your letter of the 7th Inst. your payment to the Corps of Artillorists & Engineers for the month of May has been examined & your Account stands balanced for that transaction by charging the 116 Doll. to Lt Freeman which you refunded. — That part of your letter relative to disbursing monies on the requisitions of Col. Rochefontaine, I have shown to the Sec.y of War, who will give it due consideration; and you will be informed of the result

Your account and vouchers transmitted pr your letter of the 3d Inst. have been under examination, and the amount passed to your credit agreeably to your Statement except ten Dollars deducted from Staats Morris's acct for bringing Money from New York - the sum formerly allowed was considered as an equivalent for transportation from West Point to New York & back, the expences were not considered to be allowed. If an Officer remains any time at New York it must be at his own expence and not at the publick's — The Balance therefore against you is 336 34/100 Dollars — The ten Dollars you will have refunded by Capt. Morris
