Herewith you will receive through the recommendation of Govr Blount, the sum of Four hundred seven Dollars & 51/100 with which you stand charged on the Books of this Office, being on Account of Captain William Rickard at Tarborough North Carolina for the pay of himself & Recruits to 31st August 1796, which sum you will be pleased to pay to him, taking his duplicate receipts to be forwarded to this Office by different posts, that you may be credited for the same. — The enclosed Letter to Capt Rickard you will please to deliver.

Legion has been examined & after crediting him for his pay &c. up to the 1st Ind. there is a balance against him on said account of Dollrs 958 26/100, there is also due from him to absentees of the Corps of Artillerists & Engineers out of the Monies recd by him for their pay for the Month of May 1796 the sum of 90 Dolls making in all the sum of 1048 26/100, for which you will please to give the necessary directions to have it refunded.
