Head Quarters Detroit 8^th October 1795 Sir, Enclosed are copies of Instructions and particular returns and orders to Cap^t R. I. Meigs for the immediate collection and delivery of the Army Cloaths for the Garrisons therein mentioned, which you are hereby invited and authorised, to carry into execution, in place of Colonel Meigs, who remains very ill at Fort Wayne, as amply and fully as if he were personally present — and the several Officers and persons concerned are to govern themselves accordingly. There is a probability that a sufficient quantity of Cloathing may have come forward to Greeneville, in that case you will forward all the Cloathing wanted, at that place, to the head of the Line inclusive, and then proceed to Fort Wayne, tow to complete the Issues in conformity to the enclosed directions — The advanced state of the season will not admit of delay, you will therefore proceed for Greeneville immediately — Wishing you a speedy & safe arrival, and quick return after the completion of this business.
