On a recommendation of Governor Blounts, I have paid into the hands of Mr I. G. L. Schenck the sum of four hundred seven Dollars 31/100; being for the pay of your Recruits to 31st August 1796: You will therefore on receiving [duplicate sent, Novr 23d 96] said sum from Mr Schenck, give him duplicate receipts therefor; as he holds himself accountable for the safe delivery thereof to you, and disburse the same agreeably to the enclosed receipt roll, which after you have paid the men, you will immediately forward to this Office
