Being confined for then eight [strikethrough: several] days by a severe attack of the Billious fever was prevent my forwarding the returns from the Navy Yard in this place, the month of September which will be due tomorrow, as soon as I am able to be abroad, which I flatter myself will be in the course of next week I shall forward them to the you and the Secretary at war. To whom I will thank you to communicate this information of delay, respecting the returns —
