Sirs I have received your letter of the 16^th instant enclosing Copys of Certificates respecting Issues of salt & whiskey to which the necessary attention shall immediately be paid. You will find enclosed a Return of Stores of various kinds collected since the 1^st of Jan'y 1795 from several places where they had been deposited or left by the late Militia Army — This Return added to a return transmitted to the Secretary of War on the 8^th December 1794 comprises all the Issues yet collected or that I have been able to discover, except that it has been lately intimated to me that a considerable Quantity of Stores were left at Fort Cumberland and which are still said to be at that place. Cap. John Wade immediately from Detroit and here on his way to Philadelphia being short of Cash I have, in order to enable him to proceed, advanced him 100 dollars for which I have taken the enclosed Draft on Mr W^m Simmons and which you will please to direct one of your young Men to present immediately for acceptance & when paid please the amount to my Credit. I have called on Doct. Pfeiffer with your letter respecting the transportation of his baggage & Stores, in answer to which he says he will write you by this post & endeavor to convince you that their amount is not unreasonable.
