Pittsburg September 28th 1796
Sir
Your letter of the 16th instant is received. I have encloses herewith a Muster Pay and Receipt Roll of the small Garrison of Fort Randolph for six months commencing 1st of January and ending 30th of June 1795. the amount, paid 120 dollars which sum please place to my credit and in consequence of the Receipt Roll place the same amount to Credit of Serjeant Majr John Toomy.
Blank Muster Pay and Receipt Rolls are much wanted. I expected that by this time that money would have come to hand for pay of the Troops at the upper posts for June and July. With this expectation I had informed Capt Bisell that on the 1st of October I should pay his detachment at Presqu'isle to which place I am to set off in a few days. Captain John Wade immediately from Detroit and now here on his way to Presque in order to enable him to proceed Have supplied him with 100 dollars and have taken his Draft on you for that sum which I hope you will be pleased to pay and charge as he, Cap. Wade, has directed.
If it is not contrary to your arrangements I presume I could obtain, on Drafts on you, Cash sufficient for pay of the Troops of the upper posts, by which means the Troops might be regularly paid — If this mode may be adopted you will please to inform me.
I am Sir, Your ob. Serv.
