Sir, I have received your letter of the 12th instant enclosing the proposals of Elisha and James Hill for providing the Iron work for the fregate — Be pleased to call upon them and endeavour to procure the terms on which they would furnish the Iron as well as the Iron work that may be wanted for the frigates, and inform me there of as soon as may be — It will not suit the United States to furnish the Irons.
