I received your letter of the 9th Inst enclosing the Receipt Rolls of Lieut Richard Butler for March, April & May 1796. the amount of which after examination will be passed to his Credit of which I will inform him.
The account of the Pay, Subsistence & Forage of Lieut Cole Thomas Butler commencing the 1 January and ending 30th June 1796 will be examined & the amount, if found right, will be entered to your Credit.

I received your letter of the 8 July last. The information relative to Mr Booth will enable me to settle his account by which means he will receive his just dues from the United States.
The necessity for settling the accounts of the Sub Pay Masters, will appear obvious when I inform you that advances to an amazing amount are now outstanding on the Books of this office & most part thereof are to them. — I hope therefore that you will lose no time in effecting a settlement of yours as early as possible.
